From Waste to Wow: How We Turn Wood Scraps into Functional Art

In our workshop, nothing goes to waste. What might seem like simple offcuts and remnants from our fitted furniture projects are actually the raw materials for some of our most innovative and sustainable design pieces. Today, we're pulling back the curtain on our most exciting sustainable practice: creating stunning end grain table tops and shelving from project leftovers.

The Beauty of Sustainable Design
Every piece of wood tells a story. Those seemingly insignificant scraps from our fitted furniture projects are actually treasure troves of potential, waiting to be transformed into something extraordinary.

During our fitted furniture projects, we generate several types of wood remnants, including precise measurement cutoffs, trimmed edges from custom fitting work, small sections produced by complex design requirements, and various offcuts that result from our material optimisation process.

We then prepare these by cutting, sanding & glueing them together to create tiles of end grain which can be made to bespoke sizes & shapes. Uses for these end grain tiles vary from tabletops, accent shelves, flooring or even pieces of art.
